Handmade Reversible Drool Proof Bib Review & GIVEAWAY (US & Canada ~ CLOSED)
EDIT: Great news! I’ve extended the giveaway deadline to July 10th so I can cross-promote this giveaway with the Natural Parents Network.
This is a joint giveaway with Becoming Crunchy and Natural Parents Network. You may enter at one site only. Please find the section marked “Win it!” for the mandatory main entry and optional bonus entries.
If you already entered according to the previous requirements (which were 1 comment with all your entries) – your entries are still valid. You are also welcome to complete any of the new bonus entries available according to the specifications below.
Back in April I had the chance to attend The Great Cloth Diaper Change in Toronto, helping to create a Guinness World Record of the most cloth diapers ever changed simultaneously.
While at the event I saw another mom wearing her baby in a carrier that looked like the one I was interested in buying myself; we struck up a conversation and in the end I realized I was talking to Katie of Little Miss Kate Designs.
Loving any chance I can get to support a work at home mom, I mentioned that if she’d ever like me to do a review or giveaway of her handmade products I would be happy to do so.
So a few weeks ago she sent me one of her Reversible Drool-Proof bibs – an awesome score for this mama of a very drooly, teething baby!
From the moment I opened the package, it was love at first sight (and yes, I do get that excited over bibs
).
Here’s the thing – I’ve tried many different styles and sizes of bibs, and rarely liked any of them beyond the occasional cuteness.
If they’re not labeled as waterproof, they mainly seem to be useless as the drool just soaks right through; if they are waterproof, they’re plasticky or vinyl-ey and all around uncomfortable. I’ve also found those waterproof bibs tend to degrade fairly quickly after not many washings.
And the velcro – so not helpful beyond the newborn stage! Out of the many bibs I own almost all use a velcro closure – the only one I’ve ever had with a snap was my favorite and I used it as often as possible until she grew out of it. Not only can she pull velcro off way too easily, but the more you wash it the more it collects little pieces and fuzzies and essentially loses its stickiness, so if she’s not pulling it off it’s falling off on its own.
Thus, I’ve come to believe all bibs should be made with snaps.
That’s not really the point of this review, but Little Miss Kate certainly does fulfill that requirement! Bean made several attempts to pull it off (not because it was bothering her, but because it was something she could pull on) and she couldn’t do it.
Not only that – but the bib is gorgeously soft – and waterproof! It’s made out of 100% pre-washed cotton flannel and the waterproof layer is hidden, so no icky vinyl-ey, stiff feeling bib - something I honestly feel is quite important when teething or spit-uppy babies often wear bibs for most of their waking hours! Bean has managed to soak this bib in drool more than once, and her clothes still stay dry.
As far as cuteness goes, well, that goes without saying, right? These are adorable and reversible – so you get two patterns in one. If you’re like me (and I’m kind of a dork this way) you like to match baby’s bib to baby’s outfit when you can – somebody in this family has to be fashionable, right? With these bibs it’s doubly possible to do that.
The bib is quite large – it essentially covers the entire front area of my 9 month old, handy for just about anything a baby could decide to splash on it. I’m guessing it wouldn’t be the best for a newborn, but it won’t take long to grow into and it will last a long while.
After washing and drying it was slightly on the fuzzier side than it had been, which I gather is normal with felt the first couple times you wash flannel. It certainly wasn’t something that bothered me.
All in all, I highly recommend this handmade reversible drool-proof bib from Little Miss Kate Designs.
